Description |
I am a political sociologist and currently lead a research project on transnational lived citizenship among migrant/diaspora communities in the Horn of Africa (Nairobi; Khartoum and Addis Ababa are key research sites). I am interested in developing future work on the theory and practice of transnational lived citizenship and activist citizenship per se. I am also interested in urban settings in particular, and forms of citizenship in urban peripheries. In addition, I lead a cooperation on transnational lived citizenship through the arts and am keen on future co-production of knowledge with artists and artistic engagement, ranging from music, theatre, poetry, visual arts to anything else. Lastly, I am interested in new actors in the field of migrant/refugee humanitarianism, and here in particular the potential and pitfalls of engagement by the corporate sector and the public-private partnerships advocated by key global actors.
