Description |
I am Professor of Knowledge Exchange and Social Justice at Birmingham City University, moving from sociology and social policy into community and then migration studies. An enduring aspect of my work is how abuse and risk impacts on community and individual choices to move and the impact of organised crime and exploitative groups on these processes. Much of my work has focused on lived experience of migration choice in the UK, but also in the Western Balkans. I am particularly interested in Roma and indigenous populations migratory choices, return migrations, as well as intersectional approaches to capturing migration experience. My School also do a lot work around rural sociology and moving between countryside and the urban and the drivers for change around such moves.
