Description |
I lead the Business & Peace programme of swisspeace, a practice and research institute associated with the University of Basel, Switzerland, and have development economics and comparative political science background. Usually, I focus on the macroeconomic, the political and the regional and community-level impacts of investment projects in the energy and other natural resources sectors and the challenges such projects pose for sustainability, public policies, and social cohesion. My professional and research experience has taken me to several SIDS (Small Island Development States) and the particular challenges and vulnerabilities they face given their geographic locations, exposure to specific climatic conditions, their remoteness and their historical (colonial) legacies. I am interested in migration from and between SIDS due to climate change impacts and international climate policy, as well as sustainable energy generation in these countries, some of which have been relying on fossil fuel produced domestically or imported from neighbouring countries. I am keen to link up with researchers and practitioners who share an interest in SIDS. Normal 21 false EN-GB /* Style Definitions */ |
