| Description | My training is as environmental and natural resource economist and I currently work at the University of Gothenburg, more specifically at Environment for Development (http://www.efdinitiative.org), with a network of centers located in 13 countries across the Global South. Prior to joining EfD I was Professor at CIDE in Mexico City. My research is at the intersection of environment and development economics, must of my research so far is about Mexico, but I am planning to broaden my geographic area of study. In my research I have looked at some of the effects of international migration and remittances on the livelihoods of households in the communities of origin, I have also looked at some of the effects of weather events on rural households. More recently I have started to analyze the role of perception of climate change as a factor behind the adoption of adaptation and mitigation actions. One area that I am particularly interested in exploring is how perception of climate change might affect rural households’ migration decisions in the Global South. |
