    Group Description

Coastal Ocean Assessment for Sustainability and Transformation.
COAST Card is an innovative stakeholder-driven tool that recommends, monitors, forecasts, and reports the effectiveness of management decisions in iconic coastal locations in an era of rapid global change. It merges socio-environmental report cards with social network analysis and system dynamics modeling. The COAST Card project will use social network analyses to establish the key networks of people to work together to co-produce the socio-environmental assessments. In addition, the use of system dynamics models will provide direction on how communities can work together to improve their report card scores.
Funded through the Belmont Forum Transdisciplinary Research for Ocean Sustainability Collaborative Research Action, this project brings together researchers from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (USA), University of the Philippines (Philippines), University of Bergen (Norway), National Institute of Oceanography (India), and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan). The Belmont Forum is an international partnership that mobilizes funding of environmental change research from over two dozen countries to remove critical barriers to sustainability.
